On April 20th, 2026, the SAFARI project was proudly represented at the hybrid workshop “SSbD in Practice: Current Status, Critical Barriers and Success Cases”, held in Athens and online.
The event brought together key stakeholders from industry, research, and policy to explore how the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework is being implemented across sectors. Discussions focused on regulatory readiness, industrial success stories, and ongoing challenges in translating SSbD concepts into scalable, market-ready solutions.
SAFARI was featured under Thematic Area 3: R&D Challenges in SSbD Implementation, where Carla Martins (ISQ) presented the project’s perspective on advancing sustainable innovation through research and development. The session highlighted critical barriers faced in early-stage innovation, as well as opportunities to better integrate safety and sustainability considerations into material and process design.
Participation in this workshop provided a valuable platform to:
The SAFARI project remains committed to supporting the transition toward safer and more sustainable materials and processes, aligned with European policy goals and industry needs.
