Discover the Future of Materials with the SAFARI Project
A Brief History of MXenes:
In 2011, Drexel University scientists unveiled a groundbreaking family of 2D materials: MXenes. These transition metal carbides, carbonitriles, and nitrides quickly captured the attention of researchers worldwide. Since their discovery, thousands of publications have emerged, exploring MXenes’ exotic and superior properties.
Exceptional electrical and optical properties
Impressive energy storage capabilities
High conductivity
Versatile sensing applications
The SAFARI project, a 42-month research and innovation initiative funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe program, is now advancing MXene research:
Developing MXenes-graphene hybrids
Replacing costly silver inks in electronics
Creating ultra-sensitive biosensors
Advancing EMI shielding technology
Sustainable production methods
Non-toxic processes
Cutting-edge applications
The project focuses on creating hybrid formulations of MXenes and Graphene , which possess unique properties such as thermal stability and electrical conductivity. SAFARI aims to develop safe and sustainable 2D materials that can be used in a wide range of applications, including biosensors, conductive inks, and EMI shielding.
