The SAFARI Project was recently represented at the SETAC Europe 35th Annual Meeting by our project partner, the International Research Center in Critical Raw Materials and Advanced Industrial Technologies (ICCRAM) at the University of Burgos.
During the conference, Laura Gómez Cuadrado, PhD, and Julia Rodríguez Vinagre delivered a poster presentation highlighting key research activities from the project. A major focus of the presentation was the practical implementation of Step 1 of the European Commission’s Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework within the SAFARI project lifecycle.
The presentation demonstrated how SAFARI integrates rigorous safety and environmental sustainability assessments into the early-stage development of advanced materials. By establishing these criteria at the outset, the project ensures that future nanotechnology innovations are inherently aligned with circular economy goals.
We extend our gratitude to the team at ICCRAM for showcasing SAFARI’s ongoing contributions to sustainable chemical and material design on this prominent international stage.
