In month 12 of the project, AXIA Innovation hosted a workshop on “Exploitation and Intellectual Property Rights”. The session focused on sharing theoretical knowledge, particularly on exploitation routes, planning and types of exploitable categories in research projects.
A key aspect of the workshop was clarifying terminology in order to build a common base with the consortium when it comes to define the optimum routes to exploit the SAFARI results. Specifically, key exploitable results (KERs) were defined as “the main tangible or intangible output of the project that have been identified and prioritised due to their high potential to be exploited (meaning: to make use of and generate benefits)”, those benefits can be for:
1) Commercial exploitation: when value is added to the value chain through a product, process, or solution.
2) Scientific exploitation: when contribution is made to policy-making, further research, or education.
The KERs identification, including the definition of the desired exploitation routes is the stage one of how to set up an exploitation plan. We are looking forward to innovate within the SAFARI project!
